Rooney Mara, Hollywood’s almost-It Girl (give it a month or two), is gearing up to star in director Francesca Gregorini’s upcoming film
Emanuel And The Truth About Fishes. The film concerns a girl who’s new next door neighbor bears a striking resemblance to her dead mother. It will be the second time she has worked with Gregorini, having previously acted in the director’s 2009 feature Tanner Hall, which will be distributed by Anchor Bay soon.
Mara can currently be seen opposite Jesse Eisenberg i the Social Network, and in the upcoming David Fincher adaptation of
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. With all this high profile work on the horizon, the actress is poised to become another in a slate of buzzed about actresses with unconventional, confusing names. Move over, Saorise Ronan.

Rooney Mara Cast As The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Hollywood’s highly anticipated film based upon Stieg Larsson’s novel The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, has cast Rooney Mara to play the lead. The big screen adaptation is one of the most buzzed about films creating quite the stir with speculation abounding that Kristen Stewart or Natalie Portman would play Lisbeth Salander, the punkish math genius and computer hacking female lead.
Mara was cast with Daniel Craig, who plays journalist Mikael Blomkvist, and it is rumored that the role of Mikael’s romantic partner, Erika Berger, will be portrayed by Robin Wright. The suspenseful thriller will be under the direction of David Finch and filmed in Sweden, and will premiere in the U.S. on December 21, 2011.
The Social Network opens nationwide tomorrow. It’s a movie about Facebook, so it has a 50/50 chance of either being awesome or being two hours of Farmville spam brought to life. It’s getting good reviews so far, which kind of makes us want to see it.
But more importantly, it stars Rooney Mara, the lovely sister of Kate Mara who we previously featured on Funnycrave. That will probably get us in the door. Check out some pictures below!
